Situation: When these spots were written, M.A.S.H. had just gone off the air. And Gary Burghoff (AKA “Radar O’Reilly) was available. Looking to seize the opportunity, I wrote these spots to take advantage of his well-defined character’s role of knowing exactly what was needed well in advance of everyone else. Never produced, I thought they were worth keeping—if only for the nostalgia value of one of television’s favorite and most enduring characters.
